Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Enable Copy Everywhere.
Getting Started
Yes, completely free. There are no paid tiers, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases. Install it from the Chrome Web Store at no cost.
Click the "Add to Chrome" button on this page or visit the Chrome Web Store. Click "Add to Chrome", confirm the dialog, and the extension icon will appear in your toolbar. It takes under 30 seconds.
Visit any website where copying or right-clicking is blocked, then click the Enable Copy Everywhere icon in your Chrome toolbar. The icon changes to confirm it's active. Copy and right-click are now restored for that domain.
Simply click the extension icon again on that website. The icon will return to its inactive state and copy restrictions will be restored for that domain.
Compatibility
It works on the vast majority of websites that use JavaScript or CSS to block right-clicking and text selection. A small number of sites use server-side or advanced techniques that cannot be overridden by a browser extension.
The extension is published on the Chrome Web Store and is officially supported in Google Chrome. It should also work in Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge and Brave, though these are not officially tested.
The extension works on web pages. PDFs viewed in Chrome's built-in PDF viewer use a different rendering engine, so results may vary. For online PDFs displayed inside a webpage (embedded viewers), the extension generally works.
Privacy & Security
Enable Copy Everywhere does not collect any browsing data, personal information, or usage statistics. It runs entirely locally in your browser. The developer (addonzone) has declared that user data is never sold or shared.
The permission "Read and change all your data on websites you visit" is required to remove copy restrictions from a page's DOM. The extension never actually reads, stores, or transmits your content — it only removes the scripts that block copying.
By default, Chrome extensions are disabled in Incognito mode. You can enable it manually: go to chrome://extensions, find Enable Copy Everywhere, click "Details", and toggle "Allow in Incognito".
Troubleshooting
Some websites use advanced server-side techniques or complex JavaScript frameworks to prevent copying. If the extension doesn't work on a site, you can report it using the extension's built-in reporting feature and the developer will investigate.
No. The extension is extremely lightweight and only activates on sites where you explicitly enable it. There is no background network activity or constant monitoring of your browsing.
In rare cases, removing copy protection scripts on very complex web apps may cause minor visual glitches. Clicking the icon again to disable the extension on that site will immediately restore normal behavior.
Right-click the extension icon in your Chrome toolbar and select "Remove from Chrome", or go to chrome://extensions, find Enable Copy Everywhere, and click "Remove".
Features & Usage
Yes. Enable Copy Everywhere saves your per-domain settings persistently. If you enabled copying on a website, it will remain enabled the next time you visit — until you manually disable it.
The extension is fully localized into 54 languages including English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Portuguese, and many more.
The extension works on a per-domain opt-in basis — you enable it only for sites you choose. Sites where you haven't enabled it are completely unaffected.
